Broomfield Park 3
Here is the last series of Broomfield Park pics I have, with shots taken at various times between the sixties and the eighties:
The house in 1960
1970s Elm Avenue
The playground
View from the big slide (1975)
This one above is perhaps earlier
A passing double-decker
1975 the pond
Two other views of the pond, in which I once fell (wasn't deep enough to be dangerous), and where we used to float our "VPZ": I wonder if it is still somewhere??
1980 the house
some views of the lakes
Park railings on Aldermans Hill
A link on the park (film by Ch. Lalla)
and here's a link to some views of the Park in the late 1960 (thanks Noel for the transmission!):

Yes, at 4:29 there's an elephant, and I think it's because this film is a medley of several films which have been linked together. The owners must have gone to the zoo and filmed animals there, just after or before shooting in Broomfield park.
Sad what you say about the state of the park. I wonder if the fact that the House has been so derelict for a long time hasn't dumped people's enthusiasm to look after the park as a whole.

I'm sure I've just seen an elephant in that second clip! Anyway hold on to your memory of dear Broomfield because it's not like that anymore, it's hugely disappointing . There are hardly any trees, no nice flowers, mess, the playground is situated somewhere else and none of the original things remain. You cannot get into the hot house and even the garden of rememberance not sacred anymore.
